Memorial Day: Eat this not that
Memorial Day BBQ’s have some tasty, but fattening options.Memorial Day has been linked to the tradition of burgers, hot dogs and beers (always a great way to kick-off bathing suit season). Below are some of my healthy alternatives to BBQ-binge-eating:
-Ditch the Bun: If youre going to indulge in a heavy, meat-grilled dinner its best to eat the protein without all the carbs.
-Go Lean: If youre the one doing the shopping try to purchase lean meat like turkey or bison burgers.
-Choose Lite: The calorie difference between and lite and non-lite beer is pretty significant (which can add up after a few!).
-Drink Water: Drinking plenty of water will help flush out the toxins of salt and fat that is overly consumed when munching on potato chips, salsa and pretzels.
-DIY: I love potato salad and coleslaw but when you buy it from the store its often saturated with mayonnaise and other fatty ingredients so making it fresh it home is the best way to go.
-Stay Away: From the snacks because youll start losing count as you take handfuls of each salty treat and before you know it, youll be bulging out of your bathing suit.
